What are bulk hydraulic hoses?
Bulk hydraulic hoses typically refer to hydraulic hose bodies supplied in rolls or straight lengths, without pre-assembled fittings. They can be purchased in full rolls or cut to specific lengths. Customers can then further process or crimp the hoses according to their hydraulic equipment and working conditions to create suitable hydraulic hose assemblies.
We can sell not only bulk hydraulic hoses but also hose assemblies, but they are different. Bulk hydraulic hoses offer greater flexibility.
The most significant advantages are:
* Customizable cutting based on actual length, reducing waste.
* Compatible with different standard hydraulic fittings.
* Suitable for on-site repair; if the fittings are reusable and undamaged, only the hose needs to be replaced when it is damaged.
* Lower cost; for large quantities, purchasing hoses and crimping the fittings yourself is more economical than buying complete hydraulic hose assemblies.

2.Construction of Bulk Hydraulic Hoses
The manufacturing process of bulk hydraulic hoses is the same as that of regular hydraulic hoses, and their structural composition is also the same.
Inner Tube: Directly in contact with hydraulic fluid, usually made of high-quality synthetic rubber, requiring excellent oil and pressure resistance.
Reinforcement Layer: Typically composed of 2, 4, or 6 layers of steel wire (braided or spiraled), which acts as the load-bearing structure and determines the hose’s pressure capacity. Some low-pressure hydraulic hoses use braided fibers for reinforcement, such as R3 and R6.
Outer Cover: Protects the inner steel wire layers from abrasion, corrosion, and environmental influences. Usually made of weather-resistant, aging-resistant, and wear-resistant synthetic rubber.
Temperature range: -40°C ~ +100°C (depending on the model), some special hydraulic hose models can be manufactured for high temperatures (maximum operating temperature 135°C) or low temperatures (minimum operating temperature -50°C).
3. Pressure Range of Bulk Hydraulic Hoses
The pressure range of hydraulic hoses varies depending on the inner diameter. Generally, with the reinforcement layer remaining unchanged, the smaller the inner diameter, the higher the pressure the hydraulic hose can withstand. The burst pressure is typically four times the working pressure.
The specific working pressure that a hydraulic hose can withstand can be found in the table below.

How to Choose Bulk Hydraulic Hoses?
Step 1: Define the Application Conditions (Basis for Selection)
Hydraulic Hose Pressure: Determine the system’s maximum working pressure and potential surge pressure. The selected hose’s rated working pressure (WP) must be higher than the former.
Hose Medium: Identify the fluid being conveyed (e.g., hydraulic oil type, water-glycol, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the hose’s inner layer.
Temperature: Consider both oil temperature and ambient temperature, ensuring use within the hose’s specified temperature range.
Environment: Check for abrasion, UV exposure, chemical contact, etc., to determine if a wear-resistant, weather-resistant, or other special outer layer is needed.
Step 2: Match the hose specifications (key parameters)
Inner Diameter: Select based on system flow rate. Too small an inner diameter will lead to pressure loss and overheating, while too large an inner diameter will increase cost and size.
Type and Layers:
- Low-pressure/Return Line: Fiber-reinforced hoses are suitable.
- Medium to High Pressure (Common): Choose 2-layer steel wire braided hoses (2ST) for a balance of performance and cost.
- High Pressure, Frequent Pulsation (e.g., excavators, hydraulic hammers): Steel wire wound hoses (e.g., 4SP/6SP) must be used for good fatigue resistance.
Length and Bending: Measure the required length, ensuring that the installed hose does not exceed the minimum bending radius (MBR) specified for the hose, avoiding excessive bending at the ends.
Step 3: Ensure Proper Connectors and Assembly (Bulk Hose Core)
Connector Matching: This is the biggest difference between selecting bulk hose and pre-assembled hose. The correct crimp-on connectors (including type, thread standard, and size) must be selected in conjunction with the equipment interface.
Crimping Capability: You must have or have access to a professional hydraulic crimping machine and the corresponding precise crimping parameters for the hose and connectors. The quality of the crimping directly determines the lifespan and safety of the hose assembly.
Certification and Brand: For critical equipment, choose products from reputable brands that comply with standards such as SAE and GB/T.
Where to Buy Bulk Hydraulic Hoses?
Common Purchase Channels:
1. Authorized Brand Dealers/Agents
Authorized sales points of well-known domestic and international hydraulic brands in various regions can guarantee genuine original products, reliable quality, and provide after-sales service.
2. Large Industrial E-commerce Platforms
For example, Alibaba, Made-in-China, etc., which gather numerous brands and suppliers, offering convenient purchasing and diverse choices. However, it’s important to carefully verify the quality.
3. Local Hardware Markets and Hydraulic Material Specialty Stores
Common models are usually in stock and available for immediate pickup, making them a good option for urgent needs. However, the quality may vary, customization is not available, and the range of models may be limited.
4. Directly Contacting Manufacturers
This is more suitable for bulk purchases and can provide a complete range of bulk hydraulic hoses. Prices are negotiable, and special requirements can be customized. However, it is essential to verify the manufacturer’s production capacity, product quality, and process information. There is usually a minimum order quantity, and delivery times need to be confirmed in advance.
