Materials suitable for high-temperature hoses
From the perspective of material composition, high-temperature hoses are mainly divided into three categories: silicone hoses, PTFE and synthetic rubber hoses.
- Silicone
Silicone rubber is a new type of polymer elastic material with excellent high temperature resistance (250~300℃) and low temperature resistance (-40~-60℃), good physiological stability, and is often used in food, medical, chemical, automotive and other industries.
- PTFE
PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) can be used continuously at 260℃, with a maximum operating temperature of 290-300℃, extremely low friction coefficient, good wear resistance and excellent chemical stability. PTFE hoses are widely used and are often used in aerospace, automobile, electronic chemical and other industries.
- Synthetic rubber
Fluororubber(FKM), EPDM rubber, and nitrile rubber are the three most common synthetic rubbers as raw materials for high-temperature hoses.
Fluororubber hoses can withstand temperatures of 200℃, they are a material with extremely high chemical stability, mainly used for auto fuel hoses.
The maximum temperature of EPDM rubber hoses is 230°C, and they can maintain stable performance under high temperature conditions. Common high-temperature steam pipes use EPDM as the inner and outer rubber layers. Some chemical hoses and automotive radiator hoses also use this material.
Nitrile rubber is the most common synthetic rubber used as the inner and outer rubber layers of hydraulic hoses, with excellent oil resistance, wear resistance, chemical resistance, and weather resistance. Usually the high temperature resistance can reach 120 ℃.
- PU
Made of polyurethane material, it has good elasticity and durability and can be used in a variety of environments such as high temperature, low temperature, wet and dry. PU hose has excellent sealing performance and wear resistance, and is widely used in fluid transportation on various machinery and equipment. It is also light in weight and easy to carry and install.
