Hydraulic Hose Ferrule | High-Performance Skive & Non-Skive Ferrules
Hydraulic hose ferrules are the key elements used to assemble the hydraulic fittings on high pressure hydraulic hoses. They are widely used in hydraulic hoses and industrial hoses. The ferrule fittings can not only connect the hydraulic pipeline, but also prevent the pressure pulsation from damaging the pipeline and equipment. They are available in different sizes depending on the pipe being used, e.g. No-skive Ferrule for 1SN/R1AT Hose-00110, Ferrule for PTFE Hose-00TF0, Ferrule for R7/R8-00018, etc.
StrongFlex manufactures and supplies a complete range of hydraulic hose ferrules designed for secure and leak-free hose assemblies. Whether you need standard hydraulic ferrules or custom ferrule fittings, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What is a hydraulic ferrule fitting?
A hydraulic hose fitting, often referred to as a ferrule, is a metal sleeve used to permanently connect a hydraulic hose to a hose connector. Its primary function is to provide a secure grip on the hose end, preventing leakage or detachment when high-pressure fluid passes through. Using a specialized hose ferrule crimping tool, the fitting is firmly pressed against the hose, creating a strong, reliable seal.

Types of Hydraulic Ferrules
The ferrule fittings are mainly made of stainless steel, carbon steel and brass. Ferrules are assembled on hose ferrule crimper for a permanent connection or by screwing in the case of reusable ferrules. According to the way the fittings are assembled on the hose, we distinguish the types of Non-skive ferrule, and skive ferrule.

What does a hose ferrule do?
Safety Assurance: Under high-pressure conditions, the sleeve provides strong clamping force, enhancing the safety of the hydraulic system.
Leak Prevention: A precisely crimped connector creates a tight seal, ensuring that hydraulic oil or other fluids do not leak throughout the entire lifecycle.
Improving System Efficiency: Stable fluid transmission is a prerequisite for efficient hydraulic system operation. Reliable connector connections reduce pressure loss and ensure the system operates stably according to designed parameters.
StrongFlex ferrules are used across multiple industries, including:
Construction and mining machinery
Agricultural equipment
Industrial hydraulics and automation
Oil & gas systems
Marine and heavy transport
Manufacturing & maintenance
How to choose the right hydraulic hose ferrule?
Choosing the right hydraulic hose sleeve is the first step to ensuring a reliable connection. Here are some important considerations:
Hose Type and Size: You must select the appropriate sleeve based on the inner and outer diameters (ID), ply diameter, and number of layers of your hydraulic hose. If you’re unsure, contact the sleeve manufacturer.
Connection Type: There are several types of hydraulic hose sleeves available on the market, such as peel-off and non-peel sleeves. Choose the appropriate sleeve type based on the hose you’re crimping.
Material and Surface Treatment: Choose the appropriate sleeve material based on the operating environment and pressure. Common connectors are made of carbon steel, often galvanized or treated for corrosion resistance. Stainless steel connectors are a better choice for highly corrosive environments.
Crimp Standards: Ensure the connector you choose is compatible with your crimping tool and applicator. Correct crimping parameters, such as the crimp diameter, are crucial for a secure connection.
How to crimp ferrules and hoses?
Step 1: Inspect the hose and ferrule for damage, cracks, or other issues. Verify that the ferrule and hose fit properly and that the crimping machine is suitable.
Step 2: Slide the ferrule onto the hose end, sliding it over the connector until it completely covers the connector insertion end.
Step 3: Install the die that matches the connector size. Set the parameters for the hose crimping machine.
We offer a variety of crimping machines to accommodate hydraulic hoses of varying dimensions. Hose crimping machines are available for purchase.
Step 4: Place the ferrule and connector assembly into the center of the die, start the crimping machine, and slowly crimp until the desired dimensions are achieved.
Step 5: After crimping is complete, release the die and remove the hose assembly.
Step 6: Clean the crimped area with a clean cloth and inspect for signs of pentagonal shapes, cracks, or eccentricity. Measure the outer diameter to ensure it is within the crimping range. If all is normal, the crimping is complete.
