Features of fuel delivery hose
The main features of the fuel delivery hose include oil resistance, corrosion resistance, pressure resistance and anti-static ability. It uses oil-resistant materials such as nitrile rubber (NBR) or fluororubber (FKM), which can effectively resist the penetration and corrosion of media such as fuel and hydraulic oil. Some models support high-sulfur fuel (sulfur content ≤5%)
Fuel Delivery Hose Application
Soft-wall fuel delivery hose designed for the discharge of petroleum-based products, diesel, gasoline, lubricants, fuel, with aromatic content up to 50%.
The main areas include
- Fuel tankers, gas station equipment
- Fuel supply for generator sets and engines
- Agricultural and construction machinery
- Fuel delivery systems for shipping
- Oil transfer in industrial equipment

How to Choose the Right Fuel Transfer Hose?
Choosing the right fuel transfer hose is essential to ensure safe and efficient fuel transfer. The right hose can prevent unnecessary leaks and failures. Here are some key considerations for selecting a fuel transfer hose:
1. Understand the fuel type
First, you need to know the type of fuel you want to deliver. Different fuels should be selected from different materials for fuel delivery hoses.
2. Consider working pressure and temperature
Working pressure: The working pressure of the hose must be higher than or equal to the maximum working pressure of your system. Also consider the burst pressure, which is usually multiple times the working pressure. Our fuel hose has a safety factor of 3 times and a maximum burst pressure of 900 PSI
Working temperature: The hose needs to withstand the highest and lowest temperatures of its working environment. High temperatures will accelerate the aging of the hose, while low temperatures may make the hose hard or brittle. Make sure the temperature range of the selected hose covers your operating conditions.
3. Choose the right inner layer material
The inner layer of the fuel delivery hose is the part that directly contacts the fuel, so you must choose an inner layer material with good oil resistance.
4. Evaluate the hose structure and reinforcement layer
The structure of the fuel hose usually includes an inner layer, a reinforcement layer, and an outer layer. The reinforcement layer determines the strength and pressure resistance of the hose. Common ones are braided reinforcement and spiral reinforcement. The latter can provide higher pressure resistance and anti-twisting, and is often used as a fuel suction and discharge hose.
5. Consider the outer layer material and environmental resistance
The outer layer of the hose is mainly used to protect the inner layer and reinforcement layer from the external environment. Consider the wear resistance, ozone and UV resistance, and oil resistance of the external material.
6. Size and length
Inner diameter (ID): Select the appropriate inner diameter according to the required flow rate. Too small an inner diameter will increase fluid resistance and reduce flow; too large an inner diameter will increase cost and hose size.
Outer diameter (OD): Select the appropriate hose outer diameter considering installation space and connector compatibility.
Length: Select a hose that is long enough to meet the connection requirements, but not too long to avoid bending or entanglement.
7. Certifications and Standards
Choose hoses that meet relevant industry standards and certifications, such as SAE, EN, etc. These certifications indicate that the hose has been tested and meets specific safety and performance requirements.
8. Bend Radius and Flexibility
If the hose needs to bend in a tight space or move frequently, its minimum bend radius and flexibility are important considerations. Too small a bend radius can cause the hose to kink or damage.
9. Static Dissipation
In certain fuel delivery applications, especially when the fuel flow rate is high, static electricity may be generated. Selecting a hose with static dissipation capabilities (usually achieved through conductive materials or built-in wires) can effectively prevent static electricity accumulation from causing sparks, thereby reducing the risk of fire and explosion.
Can fuel hoses carry all fuels?
Not necessarily. Different fuels have different requirements for different fuel lines.
Common fuels are
Gasoline: Most gasoline hoses are designed to withstand aromatics and other additives in gasoline.
Diesel: Diesel hoses are generally suitable for gasoline, but some special applications may need to consider the sulfur content and temperature of diesel.
Biodiesel: Biodiesel, especially high-mixed biodiesel, has higher compatibility requirements for hose materials because it may cause some rubber materials to swell or degrade.
Ethanol Blends: Ethanol is corrosive to some rubbers and plastics. If you use gasoline with a high ethanol content (such as E85), you must choose a hose designed for ethanol compatibility.
Aviation Fuel: Aviation fuels (such as Jet A, Avgas) have their own specifications and requirements and usually require specially designed hoses.
Which materials are suitable for making fuel transfer hoses?
Nitrile Rubber (NBR): Nitrile rubber is one of the most commonly used fuel hose inner layer materials and has good resistance to gasoline, diesel and most petroleum-based fuels.
Fluorocarbon (Viton/FKM): Fluorocarbon has excellent chemical corrosion and temperature resistance, especially suitable for high-ethanol gasoline, biodiesel and other aggressive fuels.
Polyurethane (PU): Polyurethane hoses are generally lighter and more flexible, suitable for some low-pressure fuel transfer applications, but their compatibility with specific fuels needs to be checked.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE): PTFE hoses have excellent chemical corrosion resistance, temperature resistance and low friction, suitable for almost all types of fuels, including highly aggressive fuels. It is usually used for high-performance or special applications and has a higher cost.
Can PVC hoses be used to transport fuel?
Ordinary transparent PVC hoses (commonly used for pumping water or garden watering) should absolutely not be used for long-term transport or storage of fuel. If you see yellow transparent hoses on some small lawnmowers or chainsaws, they may be fuel-grade PVC. Even “fuel-grade PVC” hoses will gradually harden over time when exposed to gasoline (especially gasoline containing ethanol). For high-performance engines in cars, motorcycles, etc., be sure to use only rubber fuel hoses specifically designed for fuel.
Can silicone hoses be used for fuel?
Ordinary silicone hoses absolutely cannot be used for transporting fuel. Silicone hoses perform very poorly in fuel transfer applications. The molecular structure of silicone is porous, and fuel molecules will penetrate the hose wall like water seeping through a sponge, leading to fuel leakage and emitting a strong fuel odor, increasing the risk of fire.
