High-Pressure ORFS Fittings – Zero Leakage Hydraulic Fittings
ORFS (O-Ring Face Seal) threads are a high-pressure sealing interface specifically designed for hydraulic systems. Their core feature is an annular groove on the thread end face for receiving an O-ring.The design has now been updated to feature a dovetail groove for housing the O-ring, preventing it from dislodging when the connector is positioned vertically. Additionally, please ensure that the O-ring material is compatible with the specific medium being used.

ORFS has straight threads, so the ORFS fitting is not sealed by the threads. When two ORFS connectors are connected, the O-ring is compressed between the end faces, forming a double seal between metal and rubber. This design effectively prevents leakage of high-pressure fluids and is suitable for applications requiring stringent sealing requirements, such as construction machinery and petroleum equipment.
Common standards for ORFS threads include SAE J1453 and ISO 8434-3. Their nominal diameters range from 1/8 inch to 2 inch (approximately 3.2 mm to 50.8 mm) and have a pressure resistance of up to 6000 psi (approximately 41.4 MPa). Compared to conventional threads, ORFS threads offer more reliable sealing, particularly in environments subject to vibration or temperature fluctuations.
Key Features of ORFS Fittings
Zero Leakage: The connector utilizes an O-ring flat seal design, achieving a leak-free seal by squeezing the O-ring against the end faces.
High Pressure Resistance: It can typically withstand operating pressures exceeding 420 bar (6000 psi), making it suitable for high-pressure hydraulic systems.
Vibration and Shock Resistance: The O-rings are typically made of rubber, which is soft and flexible, absorbing some vibration and preventing loosening or leakage caused by metal-on-metal contact.
Long Service Life: While the O-rings are susceptible to damage, replacement is simple and cost-effective. All other components are made of stainless steel or carbon steel, ensuring a long overall service life.

ORFS Hydraulic Fittings Application Scenarios
In the hydraulic systems of construction and agricultural machinery, ORFS fittings meet high-pressure, impact-resistant, and leak-proof requirements, making them widely used in applications such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, tractors, harvesters, and spraying equipment. Due to the high dust and vibration levels in these environments, ORFS fittings offer greater reliability.
In the oil and gas industry, maintaining tight seals in high-pressure, high-salt spray environments is essential, and they are often used in hydraulic power units on offshore platforms and drilling equipment.
ORFS fittings are also used in industrial hydraulic systems, such as hydraulic presses, stamping machines, injection molding machines, and metallurgical equipment, to maintain hydraulic system stability.
