Silcione heater hoses carry coolant between vehicle’s engine and the heater core to heat the vehicle’s interior. They are part of auto cooling system and prevent the engine from overheating and malfunctioning.
The silicone heater hose SAE J20 R3 consists of three parts. The inner and outer layers are made of silicone. The outer layer can protect the hose, The inner surface of the tube is smooth, which can reduce the adsorption of fluids and has well resistance to coolant. The middle reinforcement layer uses polyester/aramid braid to enhance the service life of the hose.
Silicone Heater Hose Introduction

Is silicone hose heat resistant?
Yes, silicone material can withstand heat up to 200℃, and silicone hose is also heat resistant. Not only that, it also has excellent low temperature tolerance. Generally, the temperature tolerance range of silicone hose is -40℃ to 220℃.
Are silicone heater hoses better?
Yes, silicone heater hoses offer superior features, including adaptability to high temperatures and pressures, to withstand the rigors of cooling system operation. These hoses offer excellent durability, flexibility, and resistance to common automotive fluids, ensuring long-lasting performance and minimizing the risk of leaks or hose failures.
Silicone Radiator Hose vs. Rubber Radiator Hose Which is Better?
Both are great but they are used in different places, silicone radiator hoses are used on racing cars or regularly maintained cars that are driven occasionally, but standard EPDM radiator hoses are recommended on street cars.
While silicone radiator hoses are great because they are able to carry much higher temperature fluids (up to 350°F/177°C) than standard EPDM rubber radiator hoses (up to 257°F/125°C), they are really only suitable for racing. Silicone hoses are porous. This is why you can’t use silicone for fuel and oil. This is also why you shouldn’t use silicone radiator hoses on street cars. Now, if you already have silicone radiator hoses on your street car, make sure to check the water level regularly.
